Artificial intelligence, space, physics, exercises and more

In October 2016, I suffered a severe stroke that left me with aphasia, a condition that forced me to relearn how to read, write, and speak. For the past seven and a half years, my daily routine has consisted of six hours of study, five hours of exercise, and one hour of reading aloud—all while managing ongoing speech therapy. Despite the challenges posed by aphasia, I’ve remained committed to rebuilding my skills and pushing forward.

Currently, I’m immersed in studying a wide range of subjects: artificial intelligence, machine learning, and neural networks; physics, including quantum mechanics, relativity theory, and particle physics; as well as astrophysics and cosmology. Alongside this intellectual pursuit, I’m navigating recovery from partial paralysis on my right side. I rely on tools like a TENS unit, Bioness system, and an AFO brace, along with stretching exercises, to aid my progress. My quick thinking isn’t as sharp as it once was—a fact starkly revealed by an astonishing brain scan after my stroke—but there’s a silver lining: my cognitive functions are gradually improving.

Before the stroke, I built a diverse career in journalism and design. Right out of high school, I worked as a U.S. military journalist. Later, I transitioned to civilian life, joining the Tampa Tribune as a news reporter, copy editor, and page designer. I also contributed to an entertainment news website as a reporter and graphic designer. On the side, I freelanced as a graphic designer, creating work for clients like Eugene Roddenberry—designing the logo for Roddenberry Entertainment and the Roddenberry Foundation, along with a wide array of other materials. Additionally, I served as a reporter and editor for Roddenberry Entertainment and several other websites.

My personal interests are eclectic and deeply rooted. I’m passionate about music—industrial, dark electro, EBM, synth-pop, and 80s hits— and I am one of the founders of CommunionAfterDark.com. I enjoy movies, books, table top role-play games and comics in the horror, sci-fi, and fantasy genres. I’m fascinated by outer space and military history, with a particular focus on the American Civil War and World War II. For over 14 years, I was a Civil War re-enactor, serving as an artillery officer in the Confederate army. I also portrayed a World War II Italian Bersaglieri soldier, bringing history to life through these immersive experiences.
